January 20, 2017

From live music and theater to cultural festivals, sporting events, charitable efforts and special interest group meetings, there's always something fun happening in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay it can be difficult to keep up with it all. Here's a look at some of this week's happenings, some community announcements and a couple of weekend events that you won't want to miss.

Paradise Church Ribs 4 Kids Fundraiser at El Rio BBQ

Paradise Church and Compassionet Impact invite you to join us on Saturday, January 21 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, at El Rio BBQ in Paso Ancho for the Ribs 4 Kids fundraiser. You'll enjoy a delicious lunch with your choice of chicken, ribs or fish, a cash bar, live music and some awesome raffle prizes. Funds raised will be used to support our feeding program for the children by the dump and for our new children's home, Casa Hogar Compasion. At Casa Hogar Compasion, our mission is to rescue, redeem and restore orphaned and abandoned young children. We provide parents to establish a family and sense of belonging and equip these children with the proper life skills, ethics and education to help them reach their God-given potential in life. Your help is essential to ensure that these children have access to a better quality of life, so join us at El Rio BBQ on Saturday, January 21 for an afternoon of fun and friendship. Tickets are available for a donation of $400 pesos and can be purchased at Carol's Boutique, Basilio Badillo #250, or by calling 322-117-6484.

What's Happening at The Boutique Theatre

The Boutique Theatre is delighted to extend its run of "The Kitchen Witches" with shows added on Friday, and Saturday, January 20 and 21, at 5 pm. Several audience members have called "The Kitchen Witches," a comedy directed by Lynne Dellinger, "the best show we've ever seen at The Boutique." Watch as two rival cooking show hostesses, played by stage favorites Alice Averett and Cat Meders, battle it out with hilarious and messy results. Rounding out the cast are Rob Grant and Catherine Beeghly. Dinners are available before or after the show. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Jan. 26 through Feb. 11, Dana Zeller-Alexis will star in a one-woman cabaret show, "Women on the Edge." She and her husband Mark Zeller, who is directing the show, have long careers on the stage around the world. Her work in "Mrs. Dally Has a Lover" earned this review: "She enters the heart of the character, etching out the perimeters of her character like a skilled jeweler." She also won a Dramalogue Award for best actress in that role. The Vallarta Vocalista Ensemble, a newly formed professional vocal octet, will perform at the Boutique Feb. 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25. "The Rhythm of Life" is the show's theme, and Carl Timothy, Jean-Guy Comeau, Kathy Overly, Suzanne Kirkpatrick, and Sharon Baughman-White are among the singers.
