Jazz Foundation Hosts Democrats Abroad Dec. Events

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad Mexico has announced its events calendar for December 2017. Most all of this month's events will be held at The Jazz Foundation in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

But on December 12th from 2:00 to 4:15 pm, No Way José! will host an Afternoon Holiday Social featuring special guest speaker Markos Moukitsas. Tickets cost just $500 pesos with part of the proceeds going towards providing scholarships to local children who are fighting cancer. Get your tickets today at No Way José! At 7:00 pm, the Democrats Abroad Weekly Film Series resumes at The Jazz Foundation with the screening of 'Defiance.' This 2008 drama tells the story of three Jewish brothers, Tuvia (Daniel Craig), Zus (Liev Schreiber) and Asael (Jamie Bell), in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe who escape into the Belarussian forests where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and about one thousand Jewish non-combatants. Next up is the Democrats Abroad Costa Banderas Monthly Social on December 19th at 5:30 pm, followed by the screening of 'My House in Umbria,' a 2003 HBO made-for-television movie based on the novella of the same name by William Trevor. The film stars Maggie Smith and was directed by Richard Loncraine. Synopsis: After surviving a gruesome terrorist attack on an Italian train line, romance novelist Emily Delahunty (Maggie Smith) opens up her home and solitary life to a trio of stranded survivors. She soon forms friendships with each, but develops a special attachment to the young orphan Aimee (Emmy Clarke). So when Aimee's distant uncle (Chris Cooper) arrives to retrieve the girl, Emily strives to convince the cold, mourning man that Umbria is Aimee's rightful home. Advance tickets to the movie screenings can be purchased after 6:00 pm daily at the Jazz Foundation for a donation of 60 pesos. On screening days, tickets can be purchased at the door for 70 pesos. Please come early (doors open at 6 pm) and enjoy fantastic food and drinks before the film starts.
