Summer News from the Entreamigos Community Center

August 14, 2018

The Entreamigos Community Center is entirely funded by donations and almost completely run by volunteers. To learn more about our programs and activities please visit entreamigos.org.mx.

San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico - Entreamigos began in 2006 on a kitchen table in the middle of a San Pancho street. Today, housed in a giant warehouse recognized as a model sustainable facility, it is an active community center with classes and workshops, a scholarship program, a bilingual library for children and adults, a computer center, an extensive recycling program, a gift store and the Recicla thrift shop. Here's the latest news from Entreamigos:

250 Kids Participated in Entreamigos' 2018 Summer Camp

With the intention of creating recreational and educational opportunities, and taking advantage of the long days of summer, the Entreamigos summer workshops brought together more than 250 children living in San Pancho and nearby towns.

During enrollment they were able to choose between classes like: surfing, juggling, scenic arts, soccer, dancing, singing, recycled masks, puppets and stories, swimming and a lot more, resulting in an average of 25 daily classes given over 3 weeks, for children from 3 to 15 years old.

To culminate these three weeks of special classes, we invited everyone to join us for an open house and live show. Our guests enjoyed photographs in the Library and Sports areas and demonstrations of Hula-Hula, Loose String, Aerial Dance and Rhythmic Games. Later, on the Garden stage, the presentation ended with live shows prepared by the Percussion and Hawaiian dance workshops. Thanks to the amazing volunteers and staff that made this summer workshop program possible.

Elementary Scholarship Students Go EXTREME!

The kids in the Primary Scholarship Program visited the facilities of Vallarta Adventures in Las Juntas, and for over 6 hours they had fun immersed in the lush forest. The 23 children who attended the trip enjoyed canopy tours, zip lines, rappel, climbing, hanging bridges, racers and even a flight simulation in a wind tunnel. Many thanks to Vallarta Adventures for receiving and treating us so well, to the parents and mothers for putting their confidence in us and allowing their children to make this trip, to the sponsors of each kid and to the teachers of the center who accompanied them on this adventure day.

Grupo Selva Zips through "Mi Chaparrita"

Another school cycle has come to an end, and it also means that Grupo Selva classes ended as well. To reward this long year of learning, they visited the "Mi Chaparrita" ranch for an exciting Zip Lining Tour. Accompanied by their teachers, Nalleli and Abraham, they enjoyed "flying" among the trees, while learning about the sounds of the forest and enjoying the fresh air. At the end of the tour they played in the pool and practiced their soccer moves! Thank you to the moms, dads, teachers and to the sponsors of Grupo Selva, Spark Ventures!

School Supplies Donated to San Pancho Children

Entreamigos gave school supplies to 70 scholarship students and to 20 Grupo Selva members, along with 110 kids from San Pancho, as part of our social assistance program. Thank you to all the donors from all around the globe who made this possible.

This is "See You Later," Not Goodbye...

Another year has passed by, and we are tremendously grateful for everyone who has contributed to making it successful. Thanks go to all the donors, teachers, volunteers, staff members and friends for their support, and to the community of San Pancho, to whom we owe our very existence. The Entreamigos Community Center is taking a short break and will re-open to public on October 8th. We are looking forward to another incredible year. Until then, enjoy the rest of the summer!

Your Support Makes ALL The Difference!

You can support the important work of Entreamigos in many ways. We need volunteers and teachers, we need goods for our Recicla Shop, and we always need real pesos and dollars to support our staff, our scholarships, and to buy materials for our library. Click HERE to donate today!

Entreamigos primary focus is to increase educational opportunities for the children of San Pancho in Nayarit Mexico. To achieve these goals Entreamigos runs an art collective non-profit store, a library, a computer center and a collection of educational and community based workshops and initiatives. Entreamigos is entirely funded by donations and almost completely run by volunteers. To learn more about our programs and activities please visit entreamigos.org.mx.
