Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra Christmas Concerts

December 5, 2018

The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra's Christmas Concerts have become an annual tradition and, with guest soloists performing Concerto for Two Flutes and Orchestra, this year's performance will be extra-special.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra is delighted to invite you to the first concert of their 14th season, Concierto Navideño 2018. In addition to classical favorites, traditional, and popular Christmas music, the concert will feature the Concerto for Two Flutes and Orchestra by Cimarosa with soloists Klaus Liebetanz and D'Rachael.

D'Rachael studied at Berkley school of Music, pursuing a career in musical performance on both flute and harp in the U.S. and Puerto Vallarta for the past 35 years. She's also an accomplished harpist and celebrates nearly 38 years performing and recording for the new age label, "Soundings of the Planet."

Klaus Liebetanz moved to Puerto Vallarta from Germany almost 3 years ago. Semi-retired now he has been an orchestra flautist playing with orchestras in Europe and North America, such as the orchestra of the Staatsoper Darmstadt, Bendorfer Kammerorchester, Orchestra for Europe, and Honolulu Symphony, among others.

The program also includes Dance of the Tumblers (Rimsky-Korsakov), Villanesca (Granados), Capriccio Italien (Tchaikovsky), Berceuse and Finale from the Firebird Suite (Stravinsky), as well as a selection of popular and traditional Christmas music.

The first performance of this concert is on Sunday, December 16 at The American School of Puerto Vallarta, Albatros 129, Marina Vallarta; and the second on Monday, December 17 at Salon Paraiso, Paseo de los Cocoteros 67, Nuevo Vallarta.

Both concerts begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is 200 pesos for adults and 80 pesos for children. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, visit IAMPV.org, or IAMPuertoVallarta on Facebook.

The PVCO will offer 2 more concerts this season. Our second concert will be a joint concert with the Ruach Singers, a Canadian 8-piece vocal ensemble specializing in Jewish music and world music sung in Hebrew on February 8 at Salón Paraiso in Nuevo Vallarta. Finally, our third concert with the full orchestra, March 6 and 7, features Vivaldi's Cello Concerto in E minor with Grammy-award winning cellist Donald Moline and music of the Baroque and early classical periods.

Since its inception as a small ensemble the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra has grown to be a full-sized orchestra, being the only community orchestra in the Bay Area. Directed by Daniel Oliveros, the PVCO houses local and international musicians with over 40 artists from +8 countries all joining their talent to produce the highest level of formal music in the whole region. The PVCO is part of a non-profit organization dedicated to the creation and instruction of music at all levels, Instituto de Artes Musicales or IAM PV.
