'NunSense A-Men!' Livens Up Sunday Nights in Vallarta

March 28, 2019

Directed by Alfonso López and choreographed by Steven Retchless, Nunsense, A-Men! is the kind of show that picks you up, shakes you around, and makes you want to dance. Playing every Sunday at 7:00 pm through April 14.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - "Nunsense, A-Men!" is a spoofy take-off on the Off-Broadway hit, Nunsense, but at Act II Entertainment Stages in Puerto Vallarta, all of the characters are male musical comedy performers!

This slightly 'sacrilegious' version, appropriately named Nunsense, A-Men!, features zany horseplay, non-stop jokes and some pretty fantastic musical numbers, performed by Bert Ramirez, Shawn Morgan, José Jasso, Roberto Gomez, and Al Carswell. You can count on these Act II nuns to always be up to something hilarious, sneaky or downright irreverent!

Directed by Alfonso López and choreographed by Steven Retchless, 'Nunsense, A-Men!' will keep you smiling, tapping your toes, and making you want to dance as you enjoy some great tunes sung by the not-so-holy Sisters of Hoboken. With passion, laughter, fun and hijinks, who could resist these clever nuns?

The musical begins by introducing the five surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony on an island south of France. These sisters discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, accidentally killed the other residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise.

Upon discovering the disaster, Mother Superior had a vision in which she was to create greeting cards. The greeting cards were an enormous success and, thinking there was plenty of money, the Reverend Mother bought a Blu Ray Player for the convent, leaving her with no money to pay for the last four burials.

With the deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze, they decide to stage a variety show in the Mount Saint Helen's School auditorium to raise the necessary amount. Participating in the project are Mother Superior Mary Regina, a former circus performer who can't resist the spotlight; her competitive but dignified rival, second-in-command Sister Mary Hubert; Sister Robert Anne, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is determined to be the world's first ballerina nun; and wacky, childlike Sister Mary Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. 'Nun-sense Amen!' includes solo and group musical numbers, madcap dance routines, and even a wacky audience quiz! (Wikipedia)

If you are looking for a rousing, fun musical that takes a few silly jabs at the church, 'Nun-sense Amen!' might be the right choice for your Sunday evening. The men of Act II deliver some delightful musical numbers in an adorable, flamboyant style! They may act a bit devilish, but the Sisters of Hoboken sing like the angels!

'Nunsense A-Men' can be seen on The Main Stage of Act II every Sunday at 7:00 pm through April 14th. If you enjoy musicals, I think you'll have a good time with the Sisters!

Tickets to all shows can be purchased online at actiientertainment.com, or at the box office, which is open daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The Act II Entertainment STAGES complex is located on the corner of Insurgentes and Basilio Badillo on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. For more information, call (322) 222-1512, or follow Act II on Facebook. Click HERE to see what else is playing at Act II STAGES.
