July News from Vallarta's PuRR Project Feline Shelter

July 8, 2019

Donations are the only source of funding to provide food, shelter, and veterinary care for the 200 + cats and kittens in residence at Purr Project, a no-kill feline shelter located just north of Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Here's the latest news from Purr Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter located just north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

ADOPTIONS AT PETCO

PetCo was happy to reach the #100 mark at their Pet Adoption Center on June 21 - and it was a PuRR kitten who had the honor! His shelter name was 'Blues' but he is now named 'Zorro,' and is home with Jan Gregg-Kelm and Nelson Kelm in Puerto Vallarta. Their other two PuRR cats, Gizmo and Luna, are going through the usual adjustment period, but will soon figure out there is enough love to go around.

We started bringing kittens to PetCo in Puerto Vallarta when they opened last November and, to date, have found furr-ever homes for 47 PuRR kittens! The Adoption Center is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and features dogs, puppies and kittens from local shelters and foster homes. All have vet-certified health records and are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. The adoption fees are very nominal ($350-$500 pesos) and PetCo gives new parents discount coupons and one free veterinarian visit. So spread the word to anyone who is looking for a new furry friend!

PURR PROJECT 2020 CALENDAR

Yes, it is only July but the beautiful PuRR Project 2020 Calendar is hot off the presses! For those of you who would like to place an order TODAY, we'll be able to mail them out with a volunteer going to California this month. (Next chance will be in the Fall sometime.) Just contact Bama at info(at)PurrProject.com. to place an order. They are still $20 plus postage and you can pay by PayPal at DONATE on our website, or send a check to Delaware.

FEATURED FELINES

Murphy and his sisters Melodie and Molly came to the PuRR Shelter in February when they were already about four months old. Molly was adopted right away and went with Allison Bell to live in British Colombia. But both Murphy and Melodie are still waiting for their Furr-Ever homes and it gets more difficult with the huge amount of little kittens they have to compete against.

Murphy has soft fawn-colored fur and golden eyes. Melodie is a tuxedo with a little white moustache and green eyes. Both have very mellow dispositions and would make great kitty companions. If you are interested in adopting one (or both!) of these beauties, or any of our felines, please contact Linda at adopt(at)purrproject.com for information.

SHELTER UPDATE

In preparation of the summer rains, we have removed one dead tree and trimmed all the trees around the transformer and over the clinic. We also added a higher step at the front gate to help prevent all the muddy water coming in from the street when cars & trucks zoom past. The emergency generator is ready, and hopefully we are too!
