Food is always a very important part of Mexican festivities, so during the month of September, some of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta will be serving up traditional Mexican dishes, events and special menus to commemorate Las Fiestas Patrias. Here are just a few of the places where you can celebrate with an authentic Mexican dinner.

Café de Artistes will be featuring El Festival de Chiles Rellenos y Cocteles, a special three-course menu that includes your choice of appetizers, main courses and desserts for only $295 pesos per person all month. El Arrayán, Vallarta's favorite Mexican Restaurant will be celebrating Mexico's "Dia de la Independencia" on Monday, September 15th, starting at 6 pm. Enjoy live Mexican music with the Los Frijoleros and Los Chirrines. Order an ŕ-la-carte dinner from their diverse menu and get one free Tequila shot when you order a main dish. You may also want to try their popular summer special "Chiles en Nogada," a traditional Mexican dish from Puebla, or other tempting specials from Chef Mariano. Dress code: Mexican Ranchero. Frascati Ristorante, located just 20 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, is offering a special September menu featuring different Mexican specialties every day, and "Chiles en Nogada," a traditional Mexican dish made of green poblano Chile stuffed with meat and dried fruit, topped with pecan sauce for only $155 pesos. Kaiser Maximilian, located at Olas Altas 380-B in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone, will also be celebrating El Mes de la Patria. During September, in addition to the Austrian delights featured on his regular menu, he'll be offering Traditional Mexican Dishes and owner/chef Andreas Rupprechter's special Chiles en Nogada, the Mexican dish that is most emblematic of the holiday for just $89 pesos. La Palapa Restaurant & Beach Club, located on Playa Los Muertos in the heart of the Romantic Zone, is offering a special three-course summer menu that includes your choice of appetizers, main courses and desserts for just $280 pesos every day during the month of September. The River Café, nestled on the banks of the Rio Cuale in downtown Puerto Vallarta, will present La Noche Mexicana on September 16th featuring an Independence Day Buffet from 6 to 11 pm and live Mariachi music from 8-10 pm for just $250 pesos per person. Vista Grill, nestled high on the hillside of Colonia Alta Vista, is celebrating El Mes de la Patria by offering diners a special three-course menu that includes your choice of appetizers, main courses and desserts along with picture-perfect views of Puerto Vallarta's world-famous sunsets from virtually every table for only $269 pesos per person.
