 On the banks of the Rio Cuale lies the River Café, one of the hidden treasures of Puerto Vallarta. Nights of music under the stars and trees bring one to new heights of discovery as past and present create a timeless paradise. Candles flicker at romantic tables lining the river bank, and tiny white lights wrap the palm trees surrounding the restaurant's multilevel terrace.
Attentive waiters serve such international dishes as steak, lobster, and pasta to a well-dressed crowd. There's a small bar area if you want to stop by for just a drink. Most nights you can enjoy live music from the Jazz Duet Beverly and Willow. The legendary Puerto Vallarta musical duo Willy and Lobo are also frequent guests at The River Cafe. Whether you dine morning, noon or night, the river soothes to a rhythm that reveals authentic Mexico at its finest. We love the River Cafe and return often yearly. It's the hilight of our vacation. We usually bring guests to share this grand experience. The atmosphere is open air elegance with tasteful music and not to loud, a nice wine list as well as great grand margarita's. And finnally the most delicious foods. The Rib-eye is fantastic, I have not ever had a better steak and being from Wisconsin I like my beef. The flambe drinks and bannana desert are a show, get your camera's ready. Last year I got stuck on breakfast at The River Cafe, very nice setting, on the river, of course and great food. The strawberry waffles have the strawberries blended into the batter as opposed to dumped on top, very good. Good coffee too. It is a little more expensive and probably would not be considered a cheap breakfast.Kevin |

BanderasNews food writer and restaurant reviewer, Gary R. Beck, pays a visit to The River Cafe - a romantic restaurant nestled on the banks of the Río Cuale featuring prizewinning chefs and a menu that rivals the best restaurants in Mexico.
River Café Selected as the Best Live Music Venue in Puerto Vallarta
 In a recent online survey conducted by virtualvallarta.com, River Café was selected by tourists and residents alike as the the Best Live Music Venue in Puerto Vallarta.
This year's "Reader's Choice" winners were selected by people who filled out an online voting form at virtualvallarta.com between February 1 and June 15, 2005. Overall, more than 11,000 votes were submitted — almost three times as many as last year. Thirty one percent of the voters were "locals," and 66% identified themselves as visitors.
Puerto Vallarta, and the entire Banderas Bay, includes some of the finest restaurants found in Mexico, so the competition was fierce, but the survey says that River Café remains one of Vallarta's favorite places to enjoy great music and fine dining.
