The Navy League is sponsoring a return engagement of the renowned Charro Association of Vallarta on Sunday, March 20, 2011. This exciting event, for young and old, Mexican and Expat, will be held at the Miguel Prieto Ibarria Arena in Mojoneras from noon until 4:00 pm, and will include a full Mexican luncheon following the two hour performance.

Adding to the Mexican flavor of the day, an award-winning Mariachi band will play the entire 4-hour period, and the price is very affordable at just $300 pesos for adults ($350 pesos at the door) and $100 pesos for children.

Last year's inaugural Charreada was well attended and received rave reviews for its authenticity, color, professionalism and excitement. Don't miss out this year on a great opportunity to witness Mexican culture and customs at its best.

Tickets are available in advance by contacting Carol Smith (044-322-137-4902 and carolpv(at)prodigy.net.mx) or Laura Joachin (044-322-132-8625 or laura_joachin(at)yahoo.com.) Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

The Mexican Charreada, or rodeo, dates back to colonial times, developing out of the herraderos (brandings) and rodeos (round-ups) of Mexican haciendas. The Mexican National Championships are often held right here in Puerto Vallarta, and you'll see some former champions performing on March 20th.

If you'd like to sponsor a group of kids from one of Puerto Vallarta's orphanages, or from "Feed the Children" or any other children's organization, contact Carol or Laura to get info on discounted pricing. We want to fill the stands, and what better way to do this than to expose youngsters in our area to this cherished Mexican tradition. Other groups/clubs may want to consider organizing bus tours to the Charreada.

The Miguel Prieto Ibarria Arena in Mojoneras is located on the highway connecting Pitillal with the Vista Vallarta Golf Club, near the new Convention Center and the City Bus Terminal. It's very convenient to all parts of Puerto Vallarta including those living in El Centro, the Marina, and Nayarit. Click HERE for a detailed map, or request a copy when you purchase your tickets.

Don't miss this chance to witness a rich Mexican tradition, while enjoying an outdoor Mexican luncheon in the company of the performers and an outstanding Mariachi band. CALL NOW!

The Puerto Vallarta Navy League is dedicated to welcoming Navy and Coast Guard vessels and crews from all nations to the friendliest port city in Mexico. Volunteers from visiting ships paint and repair local schools, orphanages and other non-profit facilities. Additionally, Navy League members run the annual Toys for Tots program that delivers many thousands of toys during the Christmas holiday season and constructs playgrounds in depressed neighborhoods.

For more information, visit VallartaNavyLeague.org. To join this outstanding civic and charitable organization contact President Bill Clark at (322) 222-3616. All are welcome; no prior military experience is required.
