March 1, 2012

Inspired by true events that are too over-the-top for even the wildest imaginations to conjure, 'Casino Jack' lays bare the wild excesses of lobbist icon Jack Abramoff.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - As part of their Every Tuesday Movie Night film series, the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad will present Casino Jack on March 6th, at 7 pm, at the Paradise Community Center on the Southside of Puerto Vallarta.

Casino Jack

Inspired by true events that are too over-the-top for even the wildest imaginations to conjure, Casino Jack lays bare the wild excesses and escapades of Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist icon who personified "the culture of greed and corruption" on Capitol Hill in the 1980s and 90s.

Aided by his business partner Michael Scanlon (Barry Pepper), Jack parlays his clout over some of the world's most powerful men with the goal of creating a personal empire of wealth and influence. When the two enlist a mob-connected buddy (Jon Lovitz) to help with one of their illegal schemes, they soon find themselves in over their heads, entrenched in a world of Mafia assassins, murder, and a scandal that spins so out of control that it makes worldwide headlines. Casino Jack stars Kevin Spacey and was nominated for a Golden Glob Award in 2011.

Don't miss your chance to see this fascinating film, presented by the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad, at the Paradise Community Center on Puerto Vallarta's South side next Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Doors open at 6 pm. Come early and enjoy gourmet burgers and other delicious options. Wine, beer and other refreshments available. The film will begin at 7 pm.

Tickets are available at the door on Tuesday night, at the Paradise Community Center (PCC) every day between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, and at Deja New, located on Jacarandas #280, also on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. Donation of $60 peso per ticket. For more information, contact: David and Judy at snowkamp1(at)yahoo.com.
