Week 5 Filming of I Brake for Gringos in Puerto Vallarta

June 26, 2012
Week 5's filming of 'I Brake for Gringos' in Puerto Vallarta focused on the club scene parties at Strana. PV Event Group's Krista Kilback gives us a behind-the-scenes look at all of the action.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The 'I Brake for Gringos' cast and crew have finished their fifth week of production in Puerto Vallarta. Filming this past week focused on the club scene and parties at Strana with guest appearances by 3 top DJs. From there it went on to day shoots on the Malecón.

From Monday to Thursday, over two hundred extras were used for day shoots at Strana, where key scenes were filmed, like the epic foam party that mirrored a Spring Break party. Everyone had a great time during the filming, as it included a wet t-shirt contest and world-famous DJs.

Special appearances by renowned DJs at Strana included Adrian Lux from Stockholm, Sweden on Monday; Paul Oakenfold from London, England on Tuesday; and Steve Aoki from Los Angeles, USA on Wednesday, as they all played their own cameos for the DJ events in the movie.

Steve Aoki rocked the house with his cake-throwing at the actors and director, champagne showers, and his signature crowd surfing on an air mattress. Also appearing last week were Sara Paxton as "Lina," and Jordi Molla as "Dorian."

Over the weekend, the cast and crew bade farewell to Jordi Molla as he finished his scenes for the movie and was heading out of Puerto Vallarta on Sunday. His farewell dinner was attended by all cast, director and producers at Mi Querencia. He stated at the event that he enjoyed his time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and will be coming back for a vacation soon. Sunday the crew and cast relaxed at the Four Seasons Beach Club in Punta de Mita during the day and had a nice dinner at Prime Steakhouse in the Marina.

The movie's director, along with Adrian Lux, Paul Oakenfold, and Zen enjoyed dinner at La Leche one night. While in Vallarta, the DJs also dined at Daiquiri Dick's, Pepe's Tacos, and Trattoria Michel.

Steve Aoki had some time before his flight, so he went out on a private boat to the Marietas Islands with professional photographer Alfonso Lepe, who took pictures of him jumping off the cliffs of the island... at the same place the jump scene was filmed for the movie Limitless.

The movie's Puerto Vallarta filming is wrapping up, but there are still key scenes to be shot - like the epic car over a cliff scene - so stay tuned. Also still to come is the arrival of Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, who'll be playing the role of Logan's mom, and Couple's Retreat star John Michael Higgins, who's playing the role of Logan's Dad.
