PV's LGBT Business Association Plans Upcoming Events

July 16, 2013

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The LGBT business association, ACT LGBT (formerly known as GEGPV), met at El Dorado Beach Club for its monthly luncheon on July 9, 2013. Many new members, eager to network and gain information about how to do business in Puerto Vallarta, attended the event.

During the meeting, Roger Dubois gave an informative and fact filled presentation on investing in Puerto Vallarta, which highlighted:

• Mexico's economy is on the rise and future economic predictors are positive.

• The decline in tourism in Puerto Vallarta in past years and its effect on business owners.

• That the distribution of tourists visiting Mexican beach resorts during the 2012/2013 vacation season was comprised of 85% national tourists and 15% foreigners visitors, on average.

• The LGBT and national tourism segments both offer great opportunities and growth potential for local businesses.

• Doing business in Puerto Vallarta requires creativity, planning, and hard work.

• From all indicators, there are good days ahead!

Armando Sanchez of Palmera Vacation chaired the group and announced the formal name change from 'GEGPV' to ACT LGBT. ACT will be sponsoring Vallarta Pride 2014 and the planning and action committee will be formed in the near future. ACT also plans on legalizing and developing a formal membership package starting this coming October.

Other future plans include a "Day of the Dead" 3-day weekend event, tentatively titled the 'Los Muertos Festival.' ACT hopes to work with other business associations to create new, and support existing, activities surrounding this unique cultural heritage of Mexico to create a festival which will garner national and international attention.

ACT will continue to hold monthly luncheons, with Armando Sanchez chairing the next luncheon on August 13, 2013 at Lido Beach Club.
