Brunch & Fashion Benefit will be 'The Cat's Meow'

January 20, 2013

Monies raised at the January 28th Brunch Fashion Show will help cover PuRR Project's operating expenses, which includes vet care, spaying and neutering, food, kitty litter, and facility maintenance. Join us!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Fabulous food, an elegant setting and stunning style can be found at Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant on Tuesday, January 28th starting at 10:30 am. An elegant brunch will be served along with a fashion show to benefit PuRR Project.

The three-course brunch includes mimosas, a fruit plate and basket of sweet rolls for your table, and your choice of quiche, French toast or scrambled eggs with ham. Beautiful, original fashions and jewelry will be paraded by models for Selene Soucy, Chak-Ra, Angela Lovett and Yesa Jewelry. PV's popular musician Jorge Acosta will provide background music. You can also take your chances in the raffle with fabulous prizes.

Tickets are $250 pesos in advance or $300 pesos at the door. They can be purchased at Daiquiri Dick's, Olas Altas #314, at the PuRR Project booth at the Paradise Community Center's Saturday Market, Pulpito #127 between 10 am and 2 pm, at PuRR Project Bingo at Margarita Grill, Pino Suárez 321 on Wednesday, January 22nd or by emailing event organizer Marilyn Khan at exkhan(at)usfamily.net.

Monies raised at the Brunch Fashion Show will help cover PuRR Project's operating expenses which includes vet care, spaying and neutering, food, kitty litter, and facility maintenance. "I find the number of cats living on the streets appalling," says Marilyn. "I just cannot walk by and leave them suffering, especially the kittens that are thrown out like trash." She believes a healthy animal population will facilitate a healthy human population. There are over 130 cats living at PuRR Project, a no-kill feline sanctuary just north of Puerto Vallarta.

While in the sanctuary the adult cats roam free within a fenced garden giving them a natural, safe environment in which to live. The kittens have their own nursery which is an enclosed structure with an open-air patio. The sanctuary also has a clinic for surgeries and vet care.

There are organized tours of the PuRR Project cat ranch every other Wednesday. These are days opposite PuRR Project Wednesday night bingo. Tours dates are January 29th, February 12th, etc. Pam Sullivan will meet you at the Starbuck's in Plaza Peninsula between 10 and 10:30 am and drive you to the sanctuary. This will give you a chance to visit the facility, tour the kitten house, check out the vet center and just hang out in the lush garden with the cats. They love visitors and it's a happy place. Just email Pam at toursoftexas@hotmail.com. Space is limited and the tour is by reservation only. However, if you are planning a large donation and want some time alone to view the sanctuary, a private tour can be arranged. Plus, they are always looking for volunteers. There are a variety of positions including kitty cuddling and socialization, working at adoption days, escorting cats to the US and Canada, fundraising and more.

If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten, visit the PuRR Project adoption events. Check them out every Thursday from noon to 2 pm at the north entrance to Walmart at the Lago Real Mall in Nuevo Vallarta, the rotunda area outside Comercial from 11 am to 1 pm every Friday at Plaza Marina, and on Saturdays at the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito #127 in Zona Romantica from 9 am to 1 pm. All the cats available have been sterilized, have all their vaccines, and are parasite free and healthy.

Join the PuRR Project team for a morning of great food, fashion, music and a chance to meet other animal lovers at Daiquiri Dick's. Get your tickets soon because space is limited. For more information or to make a donation to PuRR Project, please visit PurrProject.com.

Open daily from 9 am to 11 pm, Daiquiri Dick's contemporary design exudes a quiet elegance that invites relaxation, and its tropical location at Olas Altas 314 on Los Muertos Beach offers the perfect atmosphere for enjoying spectacular views of Banderas Bay. For reservations call (322) 222-0566. For more information, visit DDPV.com.

Purr Project is a Non-Profit shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal to adopt them out to loving homes. All of our residents have been sterilized, vaccinated and are disease free. We accomplish this through our own efforts as well as collaboratively with other animal welfare organizations. Both monetary donations as well as donations of dry cat food are most welcome – and much appreciated. For more information, visit PurrProject.com or send an email to info(at)purrproject.com.
