Democrats Abroad Tuesday Film: 'La Ley de Herodes'

March 14, 2014

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - As part of their Every Tuesday Night Film series, the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad presents La Ley de Herodes. This comedy, which won the 1999 Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of Films, will be shown at the Paradise Community Center on March 18th, at 7:00 pm.

La Ley de Herodes - The first of a trilogy made by Mexican director Luis Estrada, and starring Damian Alcazar, this film tells the story of a naive but initially well-meaning member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) who is sent to govern a rural indigenous town in the mid-twentieth century. The first Mexican film to explicitly criticize the PRI by name, La Ley de Herodes is as funny and biting a satire as they come. Spanish with English sub-titles. 120 minutes.

Gates open at 6:00 pm and all films begin at 7:00 pm. Don't miss your chance to see this fascinating film, presented by the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad. Advance tickets are available prior to the show Tuesday through Saturday between 9:30 am and 2 pm at the Paradise Community Center for donation of $60 pesos. Tickets are available at the door on Tuesday night for $70 pesos. The movie starts at 7 pm but we invite movie-goers to come at 6 pm and enjoy the food vendors at the Community Center and eat before the show. Wine, beer and other refreshments are also available.

Paradise Community Center is located at 127 Pulpito, directly across from Coco's Kitchen. For further information, contact Tobe Jensen tjensen1942(at)hotmail.com or David and Judy at snowkamp1(at)yahoo.com.

Please Note

Due to expectations of high attendance and to help us make the films enjoyable for all, we encourage you to buy your tickets in advance. This will help us to anticipate the turn out for each film. We also suggest that you arrive early. The doors to the theater portion of the center open at 6:30, at which time you can enter and save a seat.
