Democrats Abroad Weekly Film Series Resumes Dec. 3

November 18, 2014

This year, Democrats Abroad's weekly films will be shown at the International Friendship Club (IFC) on Wednesday nights at 7 pm. IFC is located above the HSBC bank just north of the Rio Cuale in El Centro.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad Mexico is launching its Fifth Annual Film Series on a new night and at a new location. This year, the weekly films will be shown at the Puerto Vallarta International Friendship Club on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm.

The popular series features stimulating, first-run films shown in the International Friendship Club's wonderfully conducive venue, which you will enjoy in the company of other film-buffs. I think you'll agree that it is well worth the price of admission.

The list of December films is as follows:

December 3rd - Twenty Feet from Stardom

An Oscar-winning 2013 American documentary film directed by filmmaker Morgan Neville and produced by Gil Friesen, a music industry executive whose curiosity to know more about the lives of background singers inspired the making of the film. The film follows the behind-the-scenes of backup singers and stars Darlene Love, Judith Hill, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer, Táta Vega, and Jo Lawry, among many others. The performances are terrific. 91 minutes.

December 10th - Citizen Koch

Set against the rise of the Tea Party in the aftermath of the US Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United ruling, a citizen uprising to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker collides with the Tea Party-aligned "Americans for Prosperity," a group founded and lavishly financed by two of the world's richest men -David and Charles Koch. The film demonstrates the Right's blueprint for taking over the USA one state at a time. 90 minutes.

December 17th - Too Big to Fail

A dramatization of the events of the financial collapse of 2008 portraying the machinations behind-the-scenes between the White House and the financial industry. Starring William Hurt, Ed Asner, Billy Crudup, Paul Giamatti, Tony Shalhoub, and James Woods. 99 minutes.

Stay tuned to Banderas News to catch the full schedule when it becomes available.

Tickets are available at the International Friendship Club Monday-Friday from 9 am to 2 pm.
