From live music and theater to cultural festivals, charitable efforts, sporting events and eco-adventures, there's always something fun to do in Puerto Vallarta, the Riviera Nayarit, and around Banderas Bay.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. Here's a look at some of this week's Vallarta news headlines, a few community announcements, and a couple of this weekend's events that you won't want to miss.

Rincón de Guayabitos Cultural Arts Festival


The Guayabitos Hotel and Motel Association, together with the Nayarit Cultural Arts Center invite one and all to the 10th Annual Rincón de Guayabitos Cultural Arts Festival. Every Saturday night in February, it’s all about cultural arts at the main plaza in Guayabitos, where everyone is welcome to enjoy a variety of top-notch presentations. The Grupo de Danza Nayar is scheduled to kick off the festivities this Saturday, February 7th; the Falsa Orquesta Cubana will fill the night with music on the 14th; then on the 21st the Violines Internacionales Hermanos Aguascalientes will take over. Last but not least, the Circo Dragón will put on a show on February 28th.

Night Tournament at Flamingos Golf Course


At Flamingos Golf Course, everything is ready for the second edition of The Flamingos Night Golf Tournament, scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015. This is the Riviera Nayarit's only night golf tournament, and is the perfect challenge for golf lovers of any level. Participants will not only play against each other, but also against the darkness, with only the moon and fluorescent lighting illuminating the 9 holes to be played. The format for this game will be A-GOGO men's or mixed foursomes, and it will start by shotgun at 8 pm. There will also be live music to get the party started at the only night tournament in the Banderas Bay area. The event is limited to 72 players, so sign up now so you won't miss this once a year experience. Price per player will be $1,200 pesos in advance and $1,500 pesos on the day of tournament. Registration fees include a welcome kit that consists of 2 glow balls, 1 dinner ticket, and free drinks. Those interested in participating can call Flamingos at (329) 296-5006 for more information.

"Open Your Heart" Gala for Corazón de Niña


What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to enjoy an intimate evening overlooking Banderas Bay? This year while wining, dining, and romancing that special someone you can also help out the abused and abandoned girls at Corazón de Niña. Join us on February 14th at 6:30 pm for our "Open Your Heart" Gala Sunset Dinner and Dance Fundraiser. For a donation of $750 pesos in advance or $800 at the door, you'll enjoy a three-course dinner, a sensational silent auction, major door prizes, several raffle prizes, and dance music by the Gecko Band - all in a beautiful ocean-side setting. You will have the opportunity to experience a Quinceñera ceremony, which will be held for some of the Corazón girls to celebrate their 15th birthdays. Advance tickets are available at Carol's Boutique on Basilio Badillo and Kristina's Salon in the Marina. SPCA PV High Tea Fundraiser at Puerto del Cielo


Saturday, February 14, from noon until 3 pm, one of Puerto Vallarta's most romantic locations, Puerto del Cielo, a private chapel across from Hacienda San Angel Hotel, will host the Second Annual High Tea at High Noon fund raising event to benefit the SPCA de Puerto Vallarta. Founded in 2007 by Hacienda San Angel's Janice Chatterton, the SPCA de Puerto Vallarta focuses on rescuing abused, homeless animals from Puerto Vallarta's streets and placing them in foster homes in both the United States and Canada until permanent homes are available. The event will feature traditional English tea, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and desserts catered by local celebrity, Kathy Overly. In addition, fashion designer Laura Labra Lopez will be showcasing some of her original designs during a brief fashion show. Complementary jewelry will be provided by Cassandra Shaw Jewelry. Tickets are $650 pesos per person, and tables of nine can be reserved. It is expected that tickets will sell fast, so organizers suggest making reservations via email at spcapv(at)gmail.com as soon as possible.
