A Very Important Message for U.S. Voters in Vallarta

October 18, 2016

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - If you have registered to vote in the 2016 Presidential Election and have requested your absentee ballot, but have not yet received it from your State, you can use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). The FWAB is an emergency backup ballot.

If you have received your ballot, and your state requires you to mail it in, we are running very short on time to ensure it gets there on time.

Since each state has different rules, go to FVAP.gov to look up your county and state to see whether you need to mail your ballot. If you need to mail in your ballot, please come to the locations listed below this week to fill out a federal write in ballot.

Also, some people in some states and various counties have had difficulty getting their ballots - even by email. Every vote counts. Don't hesitate to stop and fill out a federal write in ballot if you are concerned or are frustrated with the lack of support in your state. We want you to vote and a federal write-in ballot is an easy process.

IMPORTANT: To vote for the candidate of your choice for senate or house, you will need to know their names and bring the proper spelling with you. Please don't expect the volunteers at these locations to know who your representatives are. This can be obtained at FVAP.gov along with your state contact information.

You can get ballot submission assistance from the Banderas Bay Voting Assistance Team sponsored by Democrats Abroad for all U.S. voters regardless of party affiliation. People will be available to help at the following locations and times this week:

Wednesday, October 19th, I Shop and Mail in the Peninsula Plaza (2nd floor above Starbucks) from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Friday, October 21, Mailboxes, Etc. Old Town, Ignacio L. Vallarta 130 Local 3, Emiliano Zapata, P.V. from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

With country committees and local chapters in over 80 countries around the world, Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party organization for the millions of Americans living outside the United States. For more information about the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad, click HERE.
