Vallarta Botanical Garden Needs Help with TripAdvisor

August 31, 2017

The Vallarta Botanical Garden, located 24 kilometers south of Old Town Puerto Vallarta, is the Banderas Bay region's most popular living museum. For more information please visit vbgardens.org.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Up until recently, Vallarta Botanical Gardens, 60 acres of highland mountain splendor just 30 minutes south of Old Town, was listed as the #3 attraction on TripAdvisor's 'Things to Do in Puerto Vallarta' page. The listing has now been removed from the travel site's PV page and VBG needs your help to get it reinstated.

Vallarta Botanical Gardens founder and curator, Robert Price, sent out the following letter on August 29 that sheds some light on the situation:

Dear Friend of Vallarta Botanical Garden:

We need your help! The Vallarta Botanical Garden was recently and mysteriously removed from the Puerto Vallarta TripAdvisor page.

After 10+ years of working our listing with TripAdvisor, the Vallarta Botanical Garden had grown to earn the Number 3 TripAdvisor attraction spot in all of Puerto Vallarta. A huge accomplishment in the very competitive tourist town of Puerto Vallarta. The reason TripAdvisor gives for removing us is they say we are outside the greater Puerto Vallarta Area.

We know, however, this is not the real reason as we are not in violation of any TripAdvisor rules available on their website. TripAdvisor singled the Botanical Garden out for removal and placed us on our own page in Cabo Corrientes.

However, none of the other Puerto Vallarta attractions which are also located in Cabo Corrientes have been removed from the Puerto Vallarta Page, just the Vallarta Botanical Garden. All of Vallarta Adventures tourism offerings in Cabo Corrientes, including Rhythms of the Night, were not removed from the Puerto Vallarta page. Canopy Tour Los Veranos and many other major tourism companies doing business in Cabo Corrientes were not removed. While we wish no fellow businesses to be removed from the Puerto Vallarta TripAdvisor Page, it seems completely unfair that we would be the only business removed.

Something fishy is going on! We're asking our friends to please write and submit a letter to TripAdvisor asking to re-list the Vallarta Botanical Garden and to restore our more than 2,400 reviews at: tripadvisor.com/GeneralSupport.

When you click on this link you will be asked for a password and to sign in on Facebook, Google or Email. If you don't have a TripAdvisor Account, sign in with Facebook.

Follow the steps below to summit your comments to TripAdvisor

1. Select "Report a Business" inside the green icon with an exclamation point triangle.
2. Select "update business information" option.
3. Write your comments to TripAdvisor inside the blue box.
4. Please be sure to add the link to the Vallarta Botanical Garden TripAdvisor Listing (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g4004460-d657304-Reviews-Vallarta_Botanical_Gardens-Cabo_Corrientes.html) to your comments inside the blue box.

In your letter please ask TripAdvisor why all other Cabo Corrientes attractions are still on the Puerto Vallarta page while only the Gardens where removed, as well as asking for the Gardens to be re-listed onto the Puerto Vallarta Page.

Listed under "Things to Do" in Puerto Vallarta, visitors to our garden were more than happy to share their unique and wonderful experiences on TripAdvisor. Reaching the number 3 spot on TripAdvisor in Puerto Vallarta was not easy, but our perseverance and years of work paid off. In fact, it was easy to see with our positive reviews ever increasing, we would have soon jumped into the number 2 spot on the "Things to Do" in Puerto Vallarta list.

Our experience with trying to fix the problem with Customer Service at TripAdvisor has been futile and frustrating, and has resulted in nothing. Out of over 2,400 Five Star reviews, the gardens never received one review complaining that the Garden was not in Puerto Vallarta. Please check out TripAdvisor's own rule from their website about being near a more well-known city, using the links below:

My business is listed in a small town. Can it be moved to the listings of a nearby, more well known city?

Frequently Asked Listings Questions

I am asking those of you who love Puerto Vallarta and the Vallarta Botanical Garden to take a minute and write letter to TripAdvisor customer service explaining the importance of the gardens to Puerto Vallarta. Please tell TripAdvisor The Vallarta Botanical Garden is a major tourism generator for Puerto Vallarta and a major employer in our region. It would be a shame for international visitors to Puerto Vallarta that love nature and botanical gardens to miss out on a chance to visit us.

The Vallarta Botanical Garden is a member supported 501C3 non for profit organization. Entrance to our garden is only $150 pesos for a two day ticket, making us PV's most inexpensive tourism attraction. We are able to offer this very low admission price because our more than 400 members subsidize all operations and expansion projects at the gardens. Vallarta Botanical Garden is an asset to tourism in Puerto Vallarta. This letter writing request comes after months of trying to work this out on our own without luck.

Thanks for your help dear friends! Please feel free to share our plea with anyone you know who might also want to help us by writing to Trip Advisor Customer service to have the Gardens re-listed onto the PV TripAdvisor page. Or if you personally know anyone at TripAdvisor who could help correct the situation we would appreciate an introduction.

With much love and appreciation,
Robert Price
