Do you like dining out? Join our anonymous foodie in her good and bad restaurant moments in the Banderas Bay area. Follow her adventures, and often misadventures, in and around Puerto Vallarta as she cruises the restaurant scene and attempts to critique some of the local chefs.
But why does she call herself The Sarcastic Gourmet? She chose 'Sarcastic' despite suggestions from many who offered the titles Cranky Gourmet, Sloppy Gourmet, Hysterical Gourmet, Bitchy Gourmet and one rather inappropriate title from her sister, The Psycho Gourmet.
So, it is now not a mystery where 'Sarcastic' came from, so now let's explore the word 'Gourmet'... According to the Cambridge Dictionary of American English, the definition of gourmet is, "A person who knows a lot about food and cooking and enjoys eating good food!"
That's our Sarcastic Gourmet... but Look Out! because when she reviews a restaurant, anything goes!

The Sarcastic Gourmet: Esquina de Los Caprichos

Esquina de los Caprichos, a little Tapas Bar/Restaurant situated on one of the most charming cobblestone streets in downtown Puerto Vallarta, has been an old family favorite for years. Though the restaurant is rather small, the menu is extensive, and the food is excellent.
The Sarcastic Gourmet: Faithful Freddy's Tucan

Twice a month on Sundays I have a physical need to visit Freddy's Tucan, located at Basilio Badillo #245 on the south side of Vallarta. I'm not sure if it is the fabulous service, the divine Eggs Benedict or the 2x1 Mimosas (prepared with fresh orange juice) that continue to lure me back.
