With the famous Old Town Art Walks in full swing and lots of exciting new art openings and exhibitions at museums and galleries around Banderas Bay, November is one of the best times for art lovers to come to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

If you happen to be visiting Puerto Vallarta this month, you'll see art enthusiasts, with Art Walk maps in hand, strolling from one gallery to another in Old Town and the Romantic Zone to view new exhibitions, meet with the artists and enjoy free cocktails during the city's annual Old Town Art Walk.

Spotlighting the works of local and internationally known artists from Mexico and around the world, the Old Town Art Walk is celebrating its eleventh season as one of the most important and popular cultural events in Puerto Vallarta.

This year, fifteen Puerto Vallarta art galleries (all within walking distance of each other,) are brimming with new exhibitions featuring art in all mediums - paintings, sculptures, pottery and folk art - so be sure to stop by for free cocktail expositions every Wednesday night from 6 to 10 pm through March 28th.

A free brochure with information about the Puerto Vallarta Art Walk and a map to the participating galleries is available at most hotels, businesses and galleries in town, or you can click HERE to download the 2006-2007 Old Town Art Walk Map.

If you appreciate the male anatomy and Latin Fever, you will not want to miss “Latin Lovers” at Galeria Sol y Luna ~ Arte sin Fronteras. Featuring paintings by Amador Toscano and Ulises Gonzalez and photographs by Jose Luis Bueno, Xavier Gonzz and Victor Vera, this art exhibition of male nudes premiers Friday, November 17th with a cocktail reception from 6 to 10 pm and continues through December 1st.

If you just can't wait to see this captivating collection of provocative paintings and photographs, stop by the gallery at Lazaro Cardenas 230 in the Romantic Zone on Friday, November 10th for a sneak preview. For more information, call 222-1302 or visit www.solylunapv.com.

Whether you are visiting Puerto Vallarta or a returning winter-time resident, be sure to stop by the Peter Gray Art Museum at the Centro Universitario de la Costa this month. An important cultural resource, the university's highly attractive museum building houses a permanent exhibition of art from around the world.

With the high season upon us and the winter-time residents returning, a visit to the museum should top your list of "things to do" in Puerto Vallarta this month. Located just off the highway to Ixtapa, the CUC museum is open every weekday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm - except during university vacation periods.

On November 28th, the life-sized bronze sculpture of Mexican dancers, which US artist Jim Demetro began sculpting in the lobby courtyard of Plaza Mar Condominiums earlier this year, will be unveiled on the new Malecón extension during a dedication ceremony, featuring a special performance by the Xiutal dance troupe.

Puerto Vallarta has an outstanding collection of artistic works displayed along the Malecón, and the Demetro piece promises to add, as each piece does, its own special charm and interest to this important part of the city.

Don't miss your chance to meet renowned US sculptor Jim Demetro, whose sculptures are featured in both public locations and private collections around the world, as he presents his tribute to Mexican culture to the people of Puerto Vallarta.

To learn more about the making of this unique sculpture, please see the full story HERE. For more information about the artist and his works, send an email to Jim Demetro at demetro@e-z.net, or visit his website at www.jimdemetro.com.
