Don't miss the ClubCorp BECAS Vallarta Golf Classic on Nov 5. For only $95 US or $1200 pesos, golfers will play 18 holes with a shared cart and have a chance to win fabulous prizes!
On Friday November 5, 2010 at 11 am golfers will tee off in an Elimination Scramble at the Marina Vallarta Club de Golf to have fun and to raise funds for Becas Vallarta, Angie’s Quest of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Club Corp’s Employee Partner Care Foundation. This is a first joint event of Club Corp and Becas Vallarta and we hope that it will be an annual affair.

Carlos Fregoso, President of the America-Mexico Foundation, Inc. (The American sister foundation of Becas Vallarta, A.C.) has labored for several years to get this golf tournament here in Puerto Vallarta in support of our scholarship students, 8th grade through university.

Becas Vallarta has provided scholarships for tens of thousands of Puerto Vallarta kids of great ability and low economic resources for the past 49 years and will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the 2011 Becas Ball in March.

For the school year 2010-2011 Becas Vallarta is granting scholarships to 111 junior high students, 134 senior high students and 131 university students with a total of 376, the most ever! This requires an annual budget of almost $200,000 USD which in turn requires the all volunteer foundation to constantly seek funds from events such as this.

Despite the poor economy, Vallarta businesses are supporting this Golf Classic with their sponsorship and we are sure the golfers in the community will give their support by signing up to play. For only $95 US or $1200 pesos, golfers will play 18 holes with a shared cart, will have a chance to win fabulous prizes awarded by the various sponsors, including a Toyota Rave-4 from Toyota Puerto Vallarta for a "hole in one!" There will be an awards ceremony following the competition with great food and drink, again donated by sponsors.

The generous sponsors are Bajo Cero Hielo, Bebidas Vallarta, Benitto’s, Casa Magna Marriott, Corona, El Arrayán, Kaiser Maximilian, Liverpool, Ocho Tostadas, Pepsi, Silver Purified Water, Scotiabank, Toyota Puerto Vallarta, Trio, Vector Casa de Bolsa and Vitea. I am sure that they will be a great asset for Becas and Club Corp to make this the best Golf Classic ever!

Sign up and get your tickets at the Marina and Vista Golf Pro Shops, with Carlos Fregoso at (322) 221-0789 or me at 223-1371. Don’t wait as, of course, the number of golfers is limited!

I’m not a golfer, but I’ll be there scurrying around to help see that you are having fun and that you have all of your needs. Will I see you there?
Polly G. Vicars and her husband of almost 60 years, Hubert (a.k.a. "Husband") retired to Puerto Vallarta in 1988 and soon became active members of several charitable organizations. Polly is the author of "Tales of Retirement in Paradise: Life in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico" [a sell-out!] and "More Tales of Retirement in Puerto Vallarta and Around the World." Proceeds from the sale of her books go to the America-Mexico Foundation, a scholarship foundation that is their passion.
