February 24, 2012

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Becas Ball, the primary fund raiser for this more than 50-year-old foundation which funds scholarships for local students with great potential and almost no financial assets, returns on March 9, 2012. This social event of the season is limited to 350 attendees.

In Marina Vallarta, at the Club Regina on the shores of the beautiful Bahía de Banderas, the lively event will have a Spanish theme, with suggestions that attendees come in red, black or white, if possible, which will make a gorgeous array of color to add to this beautiful site.

Scholarship students from the University of Guadalajara Vallarta Branch CUC will act as hosts to the guests and will be ready to tend to every need. Los Bambinos will play and sing for the cocktail hour which begins at 6:30 pm.

This will be followed by a fabulous four-course sit down dinner with wine along with entertainment by Grupo Odisea from Ciudad Guzman. Then this versatile band will play all evening for dancing on two separate dance floors.

There will be door prizes, headlined by a petite pink sapphire pendant surrounded by marquisette diamonds, set in white gold, valued at $1,100 USD. This unique piece was designed and donated by the famous Mexico City designer, Nino Foppiani.

Guests will receive gift bags prepared by Marcelo Mica Pilates and filled with goodies from Vallarta’s best businesses. There will also be a Silent Auction with art from Vallarta's Ada Colorina and Marta Gilbert, Galleria Dante and Galeria Contempo; jewelry from Cassandra Shaw and June Rosen.

There will also be dinners to bid on from Archie’s Wok, Café des Artistes, Coco’s Kitchen, Daiquiri Dick's,El Arrayan, La Palapa, Marriott’s Mikado, No Name Bar & Grill, River Café, and Trio.

Looking for a getaway? Bid on stays at Casa Magna Marriott-Puerto Vallarta, Casa Encantada-Patzcuaro, Casa Espiritu or Alma del Sol-Guanajuato, Casa Isabel-Puerto Vallarta, Dickinson Guest House-Guadalajara, Grand Bay Hotel-Isla Navidad, Hacienda San Angel-Puerto Vallarta, La Perla B&B-Guadalajara; Golf at Marina Vallarta and Four Seasons-Punta de Mita, or one of the many other wonderful items in this year's silent auction.

This is Becas Vallarta's major fundraiser, which hopefully will ensure that almost 400 of Vallarta's brightest and best young people may continue in pursuit of their educational dreams. That is where you and we come in. Come, eat, drink and make merry while actually changing the entire life of a young person who might one day become the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta or perhaps the President of Mexico!

Tickets are only $100 USD or $1200 pesos and must be purchased in advance. Tables of 10 can be reserved with 8 paid tickets. All members of Becas have tickets to sell or tickets can be reserved with Polly Vicars at (322) 223-1371, 044-322-182-0215, or at phvicars(at)gmail.com.
