Thanks to the customers, cashiers and leaders of local OXXO stores, the $208,204.81 pesos collected for SETAC through the OXXO Redondeo (round up at checkout) Program was the largest amount of money ever amassed for a non-profit organization in the greater Puerto Vallarta region.

With Puerto Vallarta schools now back in session, the City Council, through the Social Development Department, has begun the annual distribution of backpacks filled with school supplies, along with uniforms and shoes, to preschool, primary and secondary school students.

PrEP Program Begins at PV's SETAC Community Center

Mexico took a major step aimed at HIV prevention in late June, when a profilaxis pre-exposure program (PrEP) was launched in four cities. The SETAC Community Center in Puerto Vallarta is among the four PrEP sites in Mexico that will offer this powerful HIV prevention tool free of charge.

Last week, we reported on Oak Grove District 68 Superintendent, Lonny Lemon, who started a GoFundMe campaign to provide the students at Ignacio L. Vallarta school with 150 new desks, 30 of which were delivered on June 26. The remaining 120 desks were delivered on July 3rd.
Warique Restaurant Hosts Summer Benefit for R.I.S.E.

With summer here, many of our local charities are in need of extra help, so on July 19 from 6-10 pm, Warique Restaurant on the south side of Puerto Vallarta will be hosting a Summer Benefit for the Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza. All proceeds will benefit the R.I.S.E. education fund.
